About US

This initiative is a practical, community-focused effort to build reliable local communication for the Susquehanna Valley when normal systems fail.

Our Core Philosophy

We are guided by three clear principles:

1. Preparedness is community-based.

Strong recovery depends on families, churches, and neighbors being able to stay connected.

2. Simplicity Matters

This must work for ordinary people who have no interest in becoming radio experts.

3. Practicality First

The focus is on what actually helps during real disruptions — flooding, winter storms, ice jams, and extended power outages — not on theory or equipment for its own sake.

This is:

Grassroots and voluntary

Focused on safety and stability

Meant to complement official emergency services

Calm, disciplined, and practical

This is NOT:

A political initiative

A survivalist or alarmist group

A replacement for emergency responders

A radio hobby club or dues-based organization

What this Initiative Is

Z

Grassroots and voluntary

Z

Centered on GMRS radio for its low barrier to entry, family licensing, and independence from cell networks and internet

Z

Designed to help families check on one another and churches coordinate during emergencies

Z

Meant to complement official emergency services, never replace them

Z

Focused on the entire Susquehanna Valley, from the upper branches down through Sunbury, Northumberland, Lewisburg, Selinsgrove, Harrisburg, and surrounding communities

Who this is for

  • Families who want a simple, dependable way to reach each other when phones and power are unreliable
  • Churches that serve as shelters, information hubs, and gathering points in times of need
  • Rural residents and small towns that can become isolated quickly
  • Experienced radio operators willing to help build something useful for everyday people instead of another hobby-focused group

The public direction of this project will always prioritize accessibility for normal families and churches.

Stewardship & Approach

This is meant to be a long-term, sustainable effort. We start simple, grow capability only as participation increases, and keep the emphasis on real usefulness rather than complexity or visibility.

The goal is quiet, dependable local communication strength that serves the Susquehanna Valley when it matters most.
