Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 18, 2026

We built Susquehanna Valley Comms to help families, churches, and neighbors stay connected when phones and power don’t work. We take that mission seriously — which includes taking your privacy seriously.

This policy is short because we don’t collect much, and we don’t do anything complicated with what we do collect. No selling data. No targeted advertising. No nonsense.

What Information We Collect

Information you give us directly:

  • When you use the contact form: name, email address, phone number (optional), and whatever message you send.
  • If you sign up for updates (if we ever add a simple list): just your email.
  • Any other details you voluntarily share.

Automatic / technical information:

  • Basic web server logs: IP address, browser type, pages visited, time of visit. This is standard for any website and helps us spot problems.
  • Cookies or similar tech only for basic site function (remembering form preferences, etc.). We do not use tracking cookies for advertising or analytics platforms like Google Analytics.

We do not collect location data beyond what your IP might broadly indicate (e.g., “central Pennsylvania”). We do not pull data from your radio equipment or anything like that — that’s not even possible here.

How We Use What We Collect

  • To respond to your questions or messages.
  • To send occasional project updates (only if you asked for them).
  • To improve the site and make the information more useful.
  • To protect the project from spam, abuse, or legal issues.

That’s it.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your information. Ever.

We may share it only in these narrow cases:

  • With trusted volunteers who help answer contact form messages (they are bound by the same rules).
  • If legally required (court order, valid subpoena, etc.).
  • To protect the safety of the project or community in extreme cases (very unlikely).

No third-party marketing. No data brokers. No “partners” getting your email.

Data Security

We use basic, reasonable security measures (HTTPS, limited access, etc.). But no system is perfect. If there’s ever a breach, we’ll let affected people know as quickly as we can. This is a small volunteer project, not a bank — keep that in perspective.

Your Rights

You can:

  • Ask us what personal information we have about you.
  • Request we correct or delete it.
  • Opt out of any email updates (unsubscribe link is at the bottom of every message).

Just email us. We’ll handle it promptly and without attitude.

Children’s Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from kids. If we learn we have, we’ll delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We’ll update this page if our practices change. Check the “Last Updated” date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on the homepage for a while.
